Hey guys...Thanks for your thoughts...While I would want the NAV for the cameras...I wonder do I want a car that raddles from different areas when you take it apart and put back together...After looking at the video...It makes sense. I was a little concerned with some remarks made by their customers. Any major problems yet from the guys that purchased and installed using an Android phone?

Back and Front Camera

[QUOTE=Jagman70;4621349]One very good solution is described in great detail by Wysoseereeus as "The Definitive Guide to Backup and Front Camera Installation". This can be found under Aston Martin Frequently Asked Questions.

I planned on doing this installation myself in my 09 Vantage roadster this Spring before driving season in upstate New York. I can't start yet because the needed unit from VovoTech in the Netherlands has gone missing in shipment after clearing U.S. Customs. VovoTech has notified their postal service, PostNL, and they are trying to track it. (This could be a Fall project after all).

The unit I ordered from VolvoTech got lost in delivery last February and never arrived. Despite PostNL not reimbursing them for the lost delivery, VolvoTech just sent me a new unit! Great folks to deal with. It now looks like a Spring install on my 09 Roadster. I will report back when it is done.

I may try this

Going to try this
http://naviks.com/i-22774481-2006-2011-aston-martin-vantage-navigation-video-interface.html?ref=category:1136682

video interface and you can mirror smartphone to nav screen. I'm going to get a dealer account set up if I can through one of my small businesses and try it out... seems you can upgrade nav, backup, smart phone apps all in one package.

May solve the pearl interface issue of you can just keep your phone in console or pocket

Good catch. The Naviks Navigation Video Interface unit appears to be similar to the VolvoTech unit in that they both offer two inputs- one for a backup camera and a second for an auxiliary input. As they show in their video, the additional Naviks Smartphone Mirror Interface unit can integrate a Smartphone as the second input.

While I intend to use the second input on the VolvoTech unit for a front camera, it would not surprise me that the Naviks Smartphone Mirror Interface unit could be used with the VolvoTech to integrate my Smartphone as the second input instead of a front camera.

MRCW, Agreed. I have only needed to use my GPS once. It worked fine but clearly is not up to current standards. I intend to mount a front camera similar to the one for the rear down low in the middle of the front bumper. Given that it is nearly impossible to accurately judge where the front of the car is when parking, the view from a front camera should be very useful. I think the DB11 offers the surround view cameras. Maybe the next generation Vantage will have them too.

FWIW - I have the Pearl on my Vantage.

It works relatively well. I do experience some issues with communication between the frame and the OBD2 module and phone some times. Video pauses for a few seconds and then comes back.

I have the sensors and mainly just wanted it for the occasional parking needs where there may be some object that the sensors can't see, curbs, etc..

The main issue I have is that I only drive the car on weekends and so the solar isn't getting enough light in my garage to keep it charged. I've been leaving the garage half open every now and then to get some sun on it for a couple hours and that seems to have done the trick.

The other project I tackled at the same time was to add a Dension unit for audio and the dash mount that comes with the Pearl works well for holding my phone for Spotify, Waze, etc.. while driving too.
