Chipped my windshield

Trying to decide if I want to let Safelite do it or get a dealer to do the work, so has anybody had their windshield replaced by Safelite or any glass company?

They did a great job installing my windshield on my 73 charger, but not sure about my db9.

There is another parallel thread on 'scratched' windshield where I posted some of this...

If its a fixable chip they may just fill it and repair. >6" crack and they can not.

I did just get a new heated V8V windshield. NO ONE but Aston can supply them.. tried. Double check.

$3300 for the part and $500 install thru the dealer. They drop the headliner, etc.

AM does NOT ship the windshield in any kind of crate.. its wrapped and loose... they had THREE of them arrived damaged and corner chipped. They scrapped $9900 retail in windshields in shipping. The 4th arrived fine. But took 3 months since they all had to be shipped in. Make sure to inspect the part yourself before dropping off the car for the day.

Insurance co in FL had a fit because FL state law says any crack longer than 6" get a free windshield no deductible. I had to go up a level or two with Allstate once they realized it wasn't $300 at Safelite. They wanted me to pay first! I argued it and ultimately they sent me to an adjuster and they wrote me a check payable to AM Palm Beach on the spot.

Good Luck!

I live in FL, I live by Dimmitt but will not take my car to them and do not want to spend the day in Orlando, so was hoping I could get Safelite to do the work.

Tried a couple options.. but no one wanted to touch a $3300 piece of glass. From what I understand if Safelite breaks it they own it. I can at least vouch for AM Palm Beach.. but due to no fault of theirs it did take 4 shipments. Plan a Key West trip and drop it off along the way and get a rental!
