VANTAGE V8 Revs dont fall as fast as i think it should

when driving the car in aggressive mode. (shifting near redline , or above 6,000), it doesn't seem like the RPM drop is quick enough to be normal. plus, the engine braking seems to be less than i remember it. (having done several track days a few years back) no alerts illuminated, and the car runs great...just off throttle seems to hang when you lift the throttle and the RPM dont come down as fast as i think they should.

i seemed to remember this happening a few years ago, when it started kind of funny, and it did this, and then i turned off the car and it was fine.

has anyone else heard of this problem? makes for a very uncomfortable high RPM shift when the RPM doesnt fall fast as it should. like a false air leak or something , but everything looks new under the hood.
