Rear view woes
Rear view woes
I was out driving, enjoying the rain yesterday
, and as I was about to change lanes right, I realized that my passenger side rear view mirror had blacked out. At first I thought that it was mis-aimed at the door, but adjusting it didn't help, so I thought maybe some photochromatic stuff was going on, but when the rain let up enough to get out and have a look, surprise!, no mirror in the black plastic frame. It had just fallen out. Period.
The local Dealer, Grand Touring North, just happened to have one in the Vault and couriered it to me right away, but when I opened it, I now have both the convex mirror, and the plastic frame, with electrical connections and a couple of fold-down white nylon tabs. Can anyone tell me how to get the old frame out of the 'pod' that houses the adjustment/powerfold mechanisms without doing any more damage?
Thanks

There is a description somewhere I just do not remember where I saw it, maybe in a forum or in the service manual. Have a go at google.
Sorry that I cannot be more specific.

Thanks Guys. Ran into a buddy from an Auto Glass shop who showed me how to do it in about 2 minutes. It's just like brain surgery- it's easy if you know how to do it!
For future reference, can you please share the tips and technique?
I will; but like that brain surgery, it's a bit difficult to describe in the abstract. I should have taken some pictures, but both hands were kinda busy. Not to mention that it's impossible to see what it is you're doing in that confined space.
