V8 Vantage 4.7 - Washing Machine killed my plastic emotion control key

Hi,

My plastic key has me all emotional as it has been washed and now will not work. I've dried it out with a hairdryer, changed the battery and still no joy. Any suggestions on how to revive it from the dead?

A-H

I don't think you can revive it

Probably the best you can do is get new innards (are yours still Volvo based in the 4.7?) and make sure the new one has the programming code and get AM dealer to re program it

Good luck

Graze

Yeah, electronics and water don't get along... not likely to be fixed. If drying it didn't resolve it, it's probably because it's shorted out.

Leave it in rice for a few days. If a phone can come back from the reaper I don't see why your ECU doesn't have the same chance.

Thumbs up Electrical contact cleaner and a toothbrush = Resurrection

For those interested the ECU is back from the dead. A liberal application of Electrical Contact Cleaner, working the buttons a number of times and a light scrub with a toothbrush has resolved the issue.

My wife's I-phone had a similar underwater experience. Leaving it to dry for about a week cured it. It may not work but is worth a try.
