Interesting thing is for County departments, those funds go into the county coffers rather than specifically for LE. Yes small towns do use ticket funds for city police pay a lot of times.

Personally---- I believe there should be a court cost to a ticket, ONLY if you choose to go to court, and that is paid when you go to court. IF you choose not to fight it and want to just pay it, then only a paperwork nominal charge.

Tickets themselves should be priced according to severity, and some type of rising progression for MPH over the speed limits. Yes, tag on fees for Schools Zones etc.... should added.

Bottom line, tickets should not necessarily go to INS companies. Plenty of speeders drive safely and should not get an increase due to a ticket. There are plenty of people that are a huge risk for INS companies in reality, but those are not typically speeders. So why punish them all over the place. Sure if an accident is analyzed and the cause is speeding, sure check that box to the INS company. But regular Hwy tickets for lets say 12mph over shouldn't be.

I take a realistic approach to this. I see people who literally cannot drive at all, don't pay attention, "think" they are correct in every situation, and wont correct themselves. These are the actual danger to us that drive safely. Just because someone is speeding, that doesn't mean they are not in control and are dangerous IMO. But for me, yes, the law is the law, and I am guilty also.

.
They go up in severity here, up to loss of license for my last 106, but I do believe they should be reported to insurance. While I'm an excellent driver [just like Rainman] I do represent a higher risk pool. Not as high as women putting on makeup and habitual texters, or my mom who had 4 accidents in 4 years due to diminished reflexes and driving skills, and she handed me her keys when she knew it was time, but they have mandatory tests for ageing drivers here now. I'm still far safer doing 50 in a 25 than my next door neighbor doing 12 though!

Resolved issue

Checked the cables, all good and btw the unit was wired nicely.

No idea why and how but holding the power button on top for 10 seconds power cycled the passport unit.

The display flickered and It restarted. The boot process made the regular calibration noises and it looks fine now.

Thanks everyone!

That's the same issue I had after some work was done on the car.

Glad that fixed it.
