Recording a drive in my Vantage!
Recording a drive in my Vantage!
In the next couple weeks, I am taking my 2012 V8VS to Eureka Springs, Arkansas for a bit of fun driving. I am wanting to film my drives, but I wasn't sure the best way to go about it. I have a GoPro Hero 4 and the official GoPro Suction Cup Mount and I originally thought the best way to get both the look and sound of the drive would be to mount the GoPro externally on the windshield using the Suction Cup. However, I have heard horror stories where the GoPro flies off at high speeds.
Does anyone have experience with this setup or thoughts on how to achieve something better?
Thanks!
Ethan

GoPro mount is fine so long as you do it properly. Make sure you clean both the panel your sticking it to and the suction cup itself. I've had mine up to 140+ mph and two track accidents *cough* and it never budged.
You might want to get a lav mic and run it to the rear of the car for audio. I took some night footage to test out my GoPro, another guy's camera, and mic positioning a few nights ago. The mic was taped to rear bumper, pointed down at the license plate.
Here's a list of what's done to my grey car if anyone's interested

It was just a cheap lavalier omnidirectional microphone I got off Amazon for less than $20. The only thing on it was the normal Styrofoam cover that came with it. The position kept wind noise to a minimum. I'll have to take a pic next time I rig it up.
