Aston Martin won't allow shipping from EU to US

Aston Martin HWM has told me that AM doesn't want them shipping parts to USA from EU. ONLY FEW weeks left.

I needed a soft top for my DB9 local price $ 7500 EU SHIPPED TO DOOR PRICE 3700-3900 dollars.

Why these US Dealers are so expensive? Or greedy.

If this ends up to be the case, it is very bad news. I wonder how this will affect places like AstonMartinBits? Will they have trouble getting new parts from Aston?

Looked into it a while back. Got same price from US dealer. And it is only the outer shell. Doesn't include the liner. Searched the web and found a company that has tops for $3,500. Black in stock but other colors available. Forget the name.

This might be AM propping up the margins for the US dealers. They do not want customers circumventing the us dealer and god forbid, save some money

This may impact some US based independent parts suppliers. Some I have ordered from in the past appear to have procured their inventory from dealers in England.

This is truly disturbing news. Need to check with AstonMartinBits and find out what they know. I guess a nice chap from PH could always help out for a small fee, though that is potentially disastrous.

Regards,

Well this is terrible news. I mean I wanted to ship a new car and it's going to insane to try and find a new way to ship it. I mean we all want to have a car from the original dealership without being worried about re-sellers. I will have to look into a way to get the car in the states with some transition company. I will have to take a look at the potential car shipping rates and the options I might have. It's a great car that I do not want to get damaged. But I also don't want to have to pay crazy amounts for this.

If anyone needs parts sent to the US, then HWM are my local dealer, so you can either get stuff sent directly to me and I can forward it on, or you can pay me and I will purchase the item and send it on.

There would be nothing suspect about this because I send Euro only BMW parts, including BMW "M" parts to the US regularly, as well as complete vehicles through an agent in WA, as well as UK sourced ebay stuff where the seller is UK shipping only.

Might get even easier and cheaper if Trump and Johnson get this US/UK special relationship trade deal sorted!

PM me if interested.

You can see my history on Pistonheads UK with the same Avatar so I am no newbie.
