I am changing the batteries on my keys and upon opening up the crystal key I found that the battery cover only has 3 good screws remaining; one is missing and 2 are broken. Does anyone know what size and type they are, as well as where I might get them (jewelers maybe)?
So further to this, I thought why not look inside some old electronics as they always use small screws to keep weight down. I opened up a couple of old phones, took out the smallest screws I could find and they are still bigger than the ones in the key!
9V battery for size perspective.
Aston recommends that the battery is changed every year, so some bright spark of a designer decides to secure the battery cover with 6 screws as small and fragile as these AND, presumably, Aston approves the design of their signature key!!!
Quirks, style and panache aside, was there nobody who stopped for a second to think about real world practicality of something that is not even visible in normal use?
OK, rant over.
I have googled this, but without knowing what size these screws are, it is difficult to know what to actually look for. Anybody out there who uses micro-screws in their line of work?
