P2301 & P2305 Codes
P2301 & P2305 Codes
While driving back from Maine over rough roads and lots of rain, I got the "Emission System Requires Attention" and the CEL. Going to my local auto parts store, they read my codes - P2301 and P2305. I think the first one is associated with a ECM leak - probably the gas cap. I will check that I had it tightened correctly. The second code P2305 appear to a "fault is present in the secondary circuit of the ignition coil B". Does this make sense? The auto parts store was not able to reset the codes or the CEL. I guess I will have to wait until my Foxwell 520 arrives (hopefully in the next couple of days). As an aside, there doesn't appear to be any drivability issues like rough idle, poor gas mileage, etc.
Any other ideas regarding the code?
As with any new used car, there are always things to sort out/shake down. I have noticed a couple of other items that require attention but I need to get the car registered/inspected first.

I believe that both of those codes are generic and don't point to a specific problem. I have downloaded a copy of Aston Martin DB9 OBD II diagnostic codes and neither one is listed. It could be caused by a number of different things.
You will need to dig a little deeper to find the issue. I use a Foxwell 520 and it allows you to clear the error codes.
You can download your own copy of the Diagnostics Manual by going to Aston1936.com and searching his website. If you don't find it you can PM me and I can email you a copy.

Thank you. I just bought a 520 Pro for my own use. I took the car to a trusted mechanic and he pulled the codes and had a reader that could do Aston Martin (Autel). Both indicated a leak in the leak detection control circuit. The codes were for bank 1.
He also saw a couple of other codes related to the transmission, but he suspected they were because the car sat a bit before I bought it. I wasnt getting any sort of warning, so will let that one pass. Car drives great so probably a one-off.
I gotta do some driving to make sure I pass emissions test. I think I can cope with that
Thank you
Scott
