Has anyone on a 2006 DB9 had the front fusebox CEM unit fail

My 2005 DB9 fuse box is fine.

Do you need to trade the 997? Trade in's complicate and limit your possibilities.

My advice would be to sell the 997 on your own and look for a DB9 from a private party or 1st tier dealer. An owner you can meet and feel more confident on the car or from a reseller that only sells primo cars.
