New member, 2009 V8 Vantage

Good afternoon, everyone!

I just bought a new-to-me 2009 V8 Vantage coupe 6MT.

I got it for a very good price because it's missing a lot of accessories; either the previous owner strip-mined it to sell a bunch of stuff on Ebay or he rented it out and his clientele did. The crystal key is gone (obviously), but also the owner's manual, umbrella, parcel shelf assembly, tool kit, and tire fix kit.

Does anyone have a pdf of the owner's manual for a 2009?

Photos coming soon, after I get it registered and cleaned up from the 1100-mile drive home.

There is an AM app for both iOS and android that has the owners book and other information by model year or VIN.

Welcome and good luck with your car...
Crystal key is normal not getting on a used car...the prior owner keeps to remind him of his gone car.
My car...2009 came with one plastic fob.

On eBay...you can buy but remember if no codes you can not get the key fob programed. Only Aston dealers can program the key using the codes.

Also it is important to have the door key in case of a dead battery...I had my done by AMbits overseas...

Tire inflater goes out of date...probably threw away...buy online or overseas...dealer etc...

Umbrella was an added option...may not have been ordered originally

Shelve...that is strange...probably someone broke when changing the battery and threw away...

The tool kit is generally behind the driver's seat in a small kit...AMbits sells I believe...it is not a tool kit but bulbs...tow hook...etc...not much

Also you can contact Rich at Redpants.lol ...he may have these items..Rich is a really good guy!

Again welcome and post pics when you can...

Thanks for the info. I already contacted Rich at Redpants (turns out he and I are both veterans who joined the Marine Corps at nearly the same time... small world). He helped me a lot with information before buying and I'm sure I'll be visiting his website often.

Most of this stuff I'm not worried about. I got the owners guide through the Aston Martin android app.

The car has the leather loops to hold the umbrella, so I'm sure it was optioned. I don't know if I'll actually get one, considering it'll never get used.

As for the key: the car came with two plastic fobs, so I'm going to make a custom one out of walnut, stainless steel and epoxy, then transfer the internals from one of the plastic keys.

Thankfully I did get the emergency door key with the car.

The one thing I would like to replace is the parcel shelf (sometimes called the package tray) which separates the cabin from the boot area and attaches to the hatch by lanyards. I know Aston offered a carbon fiber upgrade, so if anyone here got one and you're willing to part with the original please let me know. Color doesn't matter, I can re-cover it in carpet or Alcantara myself. Astonmartinbits has one but it's for the older cars (and it's expensive), so I don't think it'll work with my '09.

Everything but the crystal key can be found on eBay new or used. Crystal key you're really stuck with the dealer. You should go buy your dealer for a once over on the car and introduce yourself.

Sounds like from you say is missing is about 2K.

I'm not worried about most of it. Since I have two plastic valet keys I plan on making a custom one myself, out of walnut, stainless steel and resin.

I do plan to visit the nearest dealership soon, though it's about 50 miles away. Introducing myself to them is a good idea.

Are you transferring one of the plastic keys into your custom key? When do you think the custom key will be completed? You'll have quite a thread when you show that off!

Yes, I plan to transfer the internals of one of the plastic ones over to the custom key. I don't know exactly when I'll start that project, but I'll definitely create a thread when I do. My hope is to make it nice enough to sell while costing less than the OEM crystal key.

An all brushed titanium case would be really neat.
