just purchased an oil filter wrench by Facom. Its a 76mm wrench with 12 notches. Fits my oil filter perfectly. Much better than the strap wrench and expandable/collapsible wrenches I have been using. You may wish to give it a try. i purchased it at Princess auto here in Canada but I suspect that it can be had elsewhere

These are the best type, reduces the chance of something going wrong (like pinching the filter).
