New plastic key and reprogramming

Hi, I am the very happy owner of a 2012 V8S, however I only have one glass key (the emotional support unit as I call it) and I would like a plastic one as well for normal duties.

The problem is the AM dealer in Houston wants $1250+ tax for a key with programming. I know you can get keys on the internet with the programming codes for 200-500 and even the nice key for 700, but the dealer will not program a key unless they sell it.

Any thoughts on a way round this or am I going to have to spend 1/3 of a clutch on a one inch plastic key?

Thanks for reading

It's rare, but if you have an independent mechanic with an AMDS computer system, they can program the key for you.

Where I live, I have two alternatives to the Aston dealer with an AMDS programmer: an independent mechanic and a jaguar dealer that used to be an Aston dealer that still employs an Aston tech

I've gotten keys programmed at both for very reasonable prices.
