"Message Center" current gear selection question

I have a 2016 Vantage GT, with a manual transmission.

Page 4.3 of the manual states that the message center in the binnacle shows "transmission position and current gear selection."

Mine certainly doesn't. I would have thought they would have displayed the current gear selection in the "gear position indication display" (GPID) where the red "R" indicates when the vehicle is in reverse, but apparently that only displays the current gear for automatic transmission cars. Weird.

I don't really NEED the car to tell me what gear I'm in, but I'm curious why I can't get they display to function as per the manual.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Manual cars only have a reverse switch fit to the transmission. SS 1,2,3 models only have this function via transmission control module to display this information. Owner guides are not always good information for all models.

Strange. I guess I will chalk this one up to Aston "quirkiness" then.

Thanks for the quick reply!

I have a 2009 V8 manual. The gear position indicator in manual transmission cars becomes a shift light. As you approach redline it will light up with 3 consecutive bars, bottom to top.

So more of a rev limiter warning...

Interesting.

Thanks!
