I have never seen a picture of any DB9 or Virage that had a V12 badge but my car has them on both fenders (not on the boot).
Near as I can tell, this is an actual Aston Martin part which I assume was (mostly?) used on the V12 Vantage where there was an actual choice of engines. Kind of redundant for this model since there was never any choice other than 12 cylinders.
Were these badges a standard thing for NA spec cars? Or maybe they were some kind of option the the original owner or 1st dealer put on?
I know that the Lake Forest Sports Cars dealership in Illinois put those badges on V12 Vantages. If your car was originally sold from there they could be the source. I was told by the owner that he suggested this to Aston Martin and it precipitated them showing up on the V12 Vantage S from the factory.
Could have been a Q add on. Have a dealer search the VIN and see if it on the build sheet. Never seen another doesn't mean it right or wrong. You got them, enjoy.
I wasn’t thinking to remove them if they were “wrong” or anything like that, was just curious if they were standard or optional. I am far from the sort that needs their car to be in perfectly stock form.
As far as I can tell that car was never at Lake Forest, the Carfax indicates it first arrived to a Washington dealership and was first sold more than a year later at the Cleveland AM dealer.
