Guy installs custom $400 clutch on V8 Vantage

Apparently he gets a custom clutch remade from https://kyclutch.com/car-clutch-kits/...

Thoughts?

Smart, I had bought an used OEM clutch complete with pressure plate on ebay in preparation of doing something very similar, if/when my clutch goes out. Had a local shop that relines truck clutches that was going to take a look at it. Going to wait patiently to see how it turns out with his and may go with the shop he recommended depending on his results. With the money I'd save, I'll be able to procure performance headers and get those swapped out at the same time.

Not sure about that $1 Oil Filter though.

Funny I watched this too just this morning. I’d also pass on the oil filter but that clutch redo may be worth a look, especially with an older “keeper”.

He's not the first to do this, I had read about this lad from the UK who did something similar with his existing clutch plate

The issue has never been the cost of the clutch IMHO. The issue has always been the labor. If you are going to remove the torque tube etc to replace the clutch, install a twin plate clutch and hopefully you won’t have to do it again.

Here's the next installment of the ghetto Aston repair, with a pretty interesting replacement oil cooler from Bell Intercoolers. I kinda wish his car was more messed up so he'd come up with additional parts ideas.

I love this guy and his way to cut AM repairs and upgrades. I had planed to replace the clutch when I brought a Vantage but got lucky because the PO had installed a AMR clutch 2500 mile before I got the car.

i swore off this guy's videos. it's bad for my heart.

i'm all for saving money and i'm a limited DIYer, but this guy is too much. everything is half-way with him. usually he throws out a few videos on a wreck he's bought and then you never hear about it again. he's got some property out in the country and i wouldn't be surprised if most of these cars are still sitting out in the field. people it seems are fascinated with junked cars bought in the cheap that the new owner can make run again, regardless of their value once fixed...sort of. it got old pretty fast.

there's another guy from england on youtube that's does the same thing with ferrari's. in fact, i think they are acquainted.

+1 feel sorry for the next owner as he's not really fixing it. Just keeping it patched up. Watching the clutch install looked like 1st time ever installing one on any vehicle. Tool selection matches the wit of the guy.

I have to say I am kind of glad there is *someone* trying to figure out these DIY and custom parts, because it's nice to know when fully custom fab is cheaper than what the dealer charges, and also who knows how long replacement parts can be found.

I kind of enjoy watching him struggling in a sort of sadistic way :P

LOLOLOL!! He screwed up the rear main seal... but thats really just the same parts over again!

Im getting ready to do a clutch on my 07. Havent decided if I want to spend the $$$ on the twin plate. I've gotten quite used to the heavy clutch pedal and don't mind it. I have had an email correspondence with this clutch place and they offer a 1 day turn around on the AM clutches. You have to send your friction disk and pressure plate in to them.
