How influential was your spouse in the Aston purchase positive or negative
I'm one of the luckiest ones, she does not care much about cars at all, she says "you know what you're doing, so if it makes sense to you then it make sense to us" But I make sure she drives newest cars in house, she drives 2020 Alfa Romeo Stelvio, she fell in love when we saw it in LA Auto Show, and that's how it goes, I make sure she's gets whatever she likes to drive and she deserves it.
Bought my first Vantage roadster in 2012, trade that in for my current one. (2013 Vantage coupe manual volcano red ) happily owned for last 6 years..... still don't see any car that gives me itch... maybe I'll replace my E9X BMW M3 for Lotus Emira manual, maybe....but I'm sure she will not mind at all....

I got some flak when I bought my Jag...she thought it was too old (an '01 in '14 w/ 90+). That was a tough one, but the financial situation was different. For the Rover, it was her idea, so that was easy. I think what made the AM the easiest was I offered her a 911 for her 50th, but after driving it, she didn't want it. I bought her the 250iS she wanted, and never heard another peep. "Can I fly to ______ to buy an AM?" "Sure, go for it...I know that's what you want..."
I consider my self very lucky...

Ah! Do not mention this. My wife never found comfortable any seat of my cars. Now I got used to it. And she got used as well.
But... recently she was surprised that there were "sport" cars where you can recline a little bit the upper part of the seat.
Result? Still not comfy for her.

tell her parts of the car are Volvo, so their is some practical aspect to the car
One of my cars was totaled so I was in the market for a replacement. My wife suggested an Aston because she knew it was my dream car. I resisted since I already have a 911 and didn't need two sports cars. She found the Vantage that I eventually bought and spent a week telling me I would be stupid not to buy it.
Interestingly, the guy that sold me the car said he had the car "sold" the week before. The buyer flew to CA, drove it, they made the deal and the next day he called to get wiring instructions for the purchase. 15 mins later the guy calls him back and tells him he needs to back out of the deal because his wife isn't on board.
I like my wife a whole lot better.

My wife is at least tolerant. She was supportive of my Mustang resto-mod project, which cost a lot more than the Vantage. She can drive the Vantage (the Mustang has a sequential transmission and a fussy clutch), so she likes that part as well.
She doesn’t generally keep up too much with what I spend on modifications, but she has access to the same bank accounts, so she can track it if she wants to.
