Aston Martin DBS - rear wheels shuddering at highway speed
Hi all, my Aston Martin DBS has developed a shuddering in the rear of the car (feels like mainly left rear) that's only occurring at highway speeds. Wheels are balanced, Pirelli tyres and wheel alignment are only 3,000km old and was occurring even before I installed wheel spacers. Has anyone come across this and what might be possible parts/solutions to resolve? Car has 36,500km mileage in total.
Check not only the balance on all 4 tires, but road force as well. Tires can be balanced but still impart too much force to the suspension every revolution. The shuddering you feel can come from the front tires equally as well as from the back. That’s why you need to check all 4 even if it feels like it’s coming from your seat area/back.
a tire can be out of balance due to manufacturing flaw. i recently had a tire's tread separate from the casing. a big bump developed in the tread, i didn't know what was going on, so i took the car to big-o tires to have a alignment done. ...hoping that that would fix the problem. they called and said the tire was about ready to explode. i told them to mount the full-sized spare on the car.
i eventually had to get a new spare, of course.
IOW, i would recommend visually inspecting the tire(s).

Thanks everyone, turns out they were my Adaptec wheel spacers according to the dealer. Motorsport Tech confirmed they were manufactured with a 69.8mm centre bore instead of 68.1mm so are reissuing.
