I am trying to know what maintenance has been done in the past to my second hand V12V or issues fixed (always maintained in official dealerships as per stamps), but my current dealership tells me they do not have access to info of cars taken care in other AM garages, and former garage simply ignores my requests.
Is there any other way to get that info? Factory records?
thank you
I have tried to get the records for my car but it is the same story. Can’t access other dealer records. I have tried going through AM USA but they don’t even answer the phone.
Seems same issue as in Europe. Really a pity, does AM not realize that some of us give huge importance to this?
Certainly an improvement in terms of their CRM.
AM has warranty repair records, not maintenance records. And since many cars change ownership dealers don't want to look into past ownership to help. Security over past ownership information many may destroy old documents after a few years. I gave up trying to get information on my last used vehicle purchase from a dealer that was a 1 owner. Only piece of mind it was freshly serviced all fluids and fiters.
It's a huge problem when buying an Aston Martin with previous owners and no records. I typically buy certified, but this last one was my first 'take a chance' non certified Vantage. After purchase I did the 20,000 mile service/inspection at Morries Aston Martin and got a report of 1/2 clutch life (great) at 24K miles. I figure if they found anything they surely would have told me to make the $$$$, so no issues! Phew!
Only info you get is on CarFax, stamps in owner's manual, included paperwork, or recall's. The rest is private information unless it was serviced by the selling dealership. Assume the car is not update on annuals and perform the services in doubt.
Is it just me or does AM seem to try to hurt themselves at every turn? I got an email from the closest dealer yesterday saying it was time for my annual service. Funny thing is I have never been there and they could not provide service info when I asked. It is a shame on how they conduct business.
I have often wondered how many people only end up owning one AM because of the poor service, poor company support and exorbitant costs of just about everything?
Lack of previous service history from the previous dealership is common even with other marquees. The SA is not obligated to provide that information especially since they didn't sell the car to you and they don't know you. Personally, I have mixed experiences where I got the entire history scanned by the SA (with PII blocked off of course) to "go away".
Then of course by happenstance meeting the previous owner at a local car gathering and being provided those service info. The universe works in wondrous ways.
