Sold my 911 for a Vantage

I'm another new AM owner. I just sold my 2014 911 C2 Cab w/ MT for a 2021 Vantage w/ MT. Didn't want to wait for an allocation or pay a markup for a new 911, so thought I would try a British car with a German V8. What I really wanted was the Vantage Roadster with a MT but unfortunately they don't make that combination. Here's some pics of the old and the new, and of the new Vantage on the 800+ mile drive home for the dealer in Chicago. Got to know the Vantage pretty well during the drive and I love it! Love the sound, love the mechanical feel of the MT, love the interior and most of all love the overall look.

Congrats! Nice porsche, but the vantage is much more car, more interesting to look at and far more unique. Enjoy!

Beautiful car and excellent specs. Love the color and wheel combination!

What's your take on the comparison between your new vantage and your 911?

I'm a convert too from a 997s to my current v8 Vantage and out the box the 911 was faster and grippier.

After some engine tuning, brake and suspension modifications the vantage is near equal in handling, plus the engine feels slightly stronger. The fit and finish of the vantage interior is better, but I do miss the planted feeling of the 997s at times. The vantage still gives me a bigger smile after a drive but I still love the experience of my old 911s as well. Seriously considering adding a 991 or 992 one day to the garage in the future but don't want to sell the Vantage.

I think the Vantage and the 911 drive totally different. I don't track my cars, so I'm never driving at the limit or even close to the limit. But you feel the difference in HP (500 v. 350 for my base 911) and torque. I read some negative reviews on the Vantage MT but I like it. Still getting used to the dog leg and I have to think before every shift. But the clutch is easy to use and I like the mechanical click of the shifter. The interior of the 911 is spartan compared to the Vantage. The new 992 gen 911 may have more modern electronics but I'm not a fan of touchscreens and like the switches and buttons in the Vantage. Long term plan is to get another 911 before it goes all EV. Hopefully I'll have a bigger garage by then so I can keep my Vantage as well!

Thanks! Looking at the Vantage and 911 side by side, the Vantage definitely has more presence. Also notice much more looks from bystanders pulling up for gas, etc.

Funny, last month I drove the one I bought in Chicago 800 miles home to NJ. I was really amazed that between the 3 dealers here in the area plus the others in the northeast, that I had to go that far to find a car I liked (and at a reasonable price).

The thing I was most amazed at during the trip: From Chicago until I got to eastern PA, only one car going slow and sitting in the left lane for no reason. From eastern PA to home, lots of them.

I also found out that for some reason my EZ-Pass didn't work in Indiana or Ohio (it worked in Illinois), even though it was supposed to. This caused a real headache since one blocked me from going through and backed up traffic, plus reaching the manual interfaces at the toll booths really required getting out of the car. What a pain.

Congrats! I came from a '14 991.1 Turbo and I haven't looked back, really enjoying my '19 and recently upgraded the exhaust to Velocity AP's . . . Again, couldn't be happier. My Turbo had Sharkwerk's exhaust and yet, I still get so much more enjoyment from the Vantage than I ever did with the 911. I'm sure I will end up in a 911 again someday . . . But not for a while, best wishes! KH

Did you do the drive all in one day? I did in 12+ hours. First time driving through Indiana and OH for me. I saw plenty of cars in the left lane but they all got out of the way quickly when they saw the Aston approaching in the rear view mirror! No problems with my EZ Pass in IN and OH. I had it positioned well to the right of the rear view mirror assembly so the darkened glass didn't interfere with the EZ Pass.

I had been looking for a MT Vantage for several months and was waiting for the right spec. When this one showed up, I jumped on it!

I think I saw the autotrader ad for this car. If so, PERFECT spec! Congratulations!
