sidemarker hack...

I know the sidemarkers on the DB9 are identical to those on a Ford Transit so when the cover popped off one I didn't really worry about it. I would just pick one up on Ebay. Except I wanted to get my car inspected and needed a quick cover to get through.

Typical AM round side marker

"Field Expedient" Plastic Water Bottle Top replacement....

Perfect fit - some 5 minute epoxy and some painters tape to hold it in place and I was off to the station. Passed with flying colors. And as frequently happens with this car - we spent more time talking about the car than he did inspecting it. Much to the dismay of the folks in line behind me.

Not sure I'll leave it in place but I'm not in a hurry to replace it. Next time I have it on the lift I'll take care of it...

I suppose you could have used chewing gum instead of epoxy...

Very MacGyver-ish! My Vantage side marker lense just decided to detach and fall off one day (cheap plastic I think). Fortunately I saw it on the ground next to my parked car and reattached it with double-sided tape. Looks and functions as new two years on. I will replace but TBH haven't given it much thought.

My personal MacGyver moment happened at 2am driving down coastal Northern California north of Bodega Bay in my Intermeccanica Convertible D...fixed a severed throttle cable with wire stripped from a plastic covered bread tie. Continued my road trip w/o incident and made it back to my mechanic in Costa Mesa.

love the bottle cap solution!

Btw the ford transit one will need some shavings on the lock mechanism to fit our cars. When you get yours, compare to the AM one and you will see what I mean.

I bought the OEM Ford smoke-version as a replacement: they came originally on the European Ford PUMA from the '90s. They look better compared to the white ones specifically on darker cars.
