A great Christmas Gift

Attached is an original ad from 1961 (the year I was born) edition of Road and Track for Aston Martin I got from my daughter for Christmas. We both share a love of cars, autocrosses, track days and members of SCCA.

She'll be inheriting my Aston...

Does anyone know what the price of that car was in 1961 ? It would be interesting to see how that price compares to todays dollar. I am betting they were even more expensive back then relative to the average persons salary.

Based on inflation, the value in 2009, (the year of my V8V) would likely be about 40k... my vantage sticker price in 2009 was about $140k...whew

This bummed me out quite a bit, but I just put the numbers into the Bank of England's inflation calculator. They have £4,000 GBP in 1961 being £78,119.85 in September of 2025 (latest time period available) or $102,811.02. For the $102k I'll still take the DB4!

Scratch that, missed the 2009 part - $63k USD in 2009 numbers. Well that would have been nice!

I have been a very very good person this year. Santa Claus please bring me that DB4. By the way I will never ask for anything else as long as I live.
