There is no offer. The dealer servicing the car does not want it at any price. Nor does the selling dealer. At this point, I have a complex broken car that seems to not have been repaired completely due to
improper diagnosis from the get go. This is even an admission by the corporate individual overseeing my case. I am not interested in trading as a devalued car when it is yet to be repaired.
Awaiting the new harness and its install.
Do you think AML would extend you Timeless warranty for the time your car was out of service? It would be their least expensive gesture of good will.
Again sorry for your circumstances. It is an unfortunate Caveat Emptor situation and looks like you're going to have to ride it out to the finish.
As mentioned in an earlier post (and I've personally been there), the main harness is a very difficult call and a more difficult task. I've seen situations like this unrecoverable. In other words, they start down a rabbit hole on these complex electronics and can't get back out. Hope that isn't the case for you; however, if it is, it could present you with a strong "legal out". In fact, the "hard fail" scenario could be more advantageous than them stumbling through getting the car running then giving it back to you.
The service manager I deal with is a gem. Super caring guy. I asked him the allocated labor for the harness replacement. 35 hours. Some poor tech is going to be hating life. I am going to ask for progress photos. Kind of like when you are doing
a car or bike resto. So one day when the car is on bringatrailer I can offer bidders history on the car
So sorry to hear your tale. I too would have taken some comfort that Aston Martin had taken the car back and was willing to sell it with a CPO. It certainly implies their confidence in the repairs and the car. At this point I would think they would cut their losses.
What are their intentions when the CPO expires and the same issues recur? This is headed to a bad conclusion for them and for you.
They will continue to sell the esc contract annually as they will to any other client. Currently is 4500 a year for 2019 vantage. It is the same coverage as the first year cpo. Some have told me it is a bit different but it is not. Funny, until now, I purchased a second year
to be cautious and glad I did. today I finally got the 28 page warranty declarations. Interesting, as long as I comply with their maintenance requirements, they have to fix the car up to the market value of the car. As things are going, that could happen. The 35 hours labor is quite the chunk of time just on this visit. They already have a few dozen hours in on the prior trips trying to remedy the same issue. I am very pleased with questions from this thread. My hope is of course to get my situation cleared up and at the same time to document for other how such a situation can happen and what can happen. If for some reason and I luck out, I am certain I would be required to stop contributing to this post as I am sure a non-disclosure would have to be signed in settlement. But, for now, I am making 1400.00 a month payments on a car 110 miles away so I figure I am deserving of this little online therapy session. Thanks for being part of my world. Tomorrow is another day and remind, not one is dying, its just a stupid car, although quite beautiful!
Went to visit my car yesterday at the dealer. Naked interior shots as it prepares for its new harness. I sure miss the car. Been gone off and on for over 120 days since June.
Piece of cake. I will say I have total confidence in the shop, just not the car. The service group is very thorough and very accommodating. I know they are tired of the car ,but they remain very kind. Kudos to Jordan, Sal the tech and the Summit service team.
Aston corporate culture changed significantly under the new ownership, and very much for the worse. I think Perfurbia's V12V undisclosed dealer demo trade back was one of the last positive outcomes that happened, granted they still sold a car that had been tortured to the point it was about to implode with a CPO. You're doing the only thing you can, fight them legally.
The Summit guys are fantastic to deal with. Although the last time I was in there to have crazy electrical gremlins fixed the tech said my idler pulley was the old type and was never changed and that's why my belt was starting to squeal a bit. I told him, sir, I have a 4.7, they all have the revised pulley.
thanks. supposed to have conversation follow up today with legal. not optimistic but still fighting. Car may come back to me this week. Been gone this time since 2/27. Miss driving it but not the issues.
And the hits just keep on coming. Aston Summit completed the cabin harness and fuse box replacement Wednesday. Upon testing the car the following day, more codes “were a flying’” and it was determined a new SCCM, steering column module, is needed. Three weeks ago the car got a new steering column. I truly feel sorry for the team at Summit as they are charged with fixing this beast. AML remains stalwart they will not take back or replace the car. Interviewing attorneys which is about all I can do as I have plenty of time that otherwise might be spent driving my car. Since June 2023, on five trips, the car as been at the dealer over 120 plus days which equates to four months if my math is correct!?
Most cannot fathom just how difficult a task replacing the main harness in a modern car like this one is. There is no chance that any tech who worked on it has ever done it before making it more of an adventure than a repair. Even with an expert, the task is froth with potential new wire damage just trying to execute the repair. So many of the runs are very small very low voltage 18 to 22 ga wire and easily damaged just getting the car back together.
I very much feel sorry for your situation and the now even more difficult road you are about to travel.
The saving grace, this is a car story, not a life and death story. I have seen those stories and “this ain’t that!” I am grateful for this venue to chronicle my adventure and appreciate all posts are supporting.
I think in this situation it is one man-person-he-me against a balance sheet. I will press on and in a worst case someone could make a good track car from this one.
