Bought flooded aston martin from copart

Hi, i am from germany and bought an aston martin volante from copart in usa. Now after several weeks the car came endly to my in germany. It was an run and drive car with very low flood. Now after trying to start the car didnt start. Con rod cylinder 12 is broken. it has an am09 476 hp engine. Not opened the engine yet but my question is would anither aston engine with more hp fit this car for example an am11 engine? What are the differences. Have found an am11 engine but dont know it will fit my car. Any help is appreciated.

Hi Bodrumlu,

Despite the core-block of the engines of early DB9s being similar in style, the early units were manufactured in the UK with production later handed over to a plant in Koln (Germany). My advise would still be to stick with the same-styled 476HP engine and not start mix and match.

You would be looking to get the 477 PS (351 kW; 470 hp) and 600 N⋅m (443 lb⋅ft) engine

I would be stunned beyond belief if the block wouldn't sit on the engine mounts or bolt up to the bell housing. The bigger challenge will be the changes in the valve train / ECU. (you don't say the year, but the newer motors are VVT, older are not). I won't speak to reusing the heads on the new block as that might be more tricky...

A broken conrod means a bent crank. They can be straightened but you need to use someone who works race cars/draggesters.

Best
Larry

With a broke rod, my bet is the engine ingested water. You likely could have way more issues.
