Coast down misfire correction…….
Coast down misfire correction…….
Here is a question about the 70 to 20 mph coast down. Went you get to 70 mph and coast down to 20 does the cars ecu understand what you are doing or is there something you need to do first? When I do the coast down I do it at least 4 times. Any thoughts would be helpful. I am thinking I am doing something wrong but can’t figure out what.
According to what I have read, you should be going in a straight line, A/C should be off and you can't touch the brake. The first time you do it the car will feel like it is shaking a lot but the next few time it will feel more normal then you know it has worked. At least that what I have been doing for the past 8 yrs without any issues, good luck.
The official coast down procedure is 70 to 40 mph. Going to 20 is unnecessary and just prolongs the process. I've had it complete in as few as three runs if everything is perfect. If you have a foxwell scanner you can watch if "36-1" in the primary PCM flips to complete during each run. As soon as it does you're done.
here is the procedure

i have an AMDS, and there were no misfire parameters stored when i purchased the car.
did the procedure once as specified and achieved "learned"
did it a second run...it generated fault codes
i guess once it says "learned" it means it
i think you have to clear the parameters before doing the procedure. once the "learned" flag is set, it won't be triggered to learn them again
just what i surmise from my single experience
