Saw a 2009 V8V for sale in my area and went through the listing photos out of curiosity. It said Apple Carplay installed but I never expected to see this. Never came across anything like this on an Aston, I've only ever seen the usual retrofit on the popup display.
What does this forum think about it? I wouldn't do this to my car but I'd be curious to know what the cost of installing something like that would be. Whatever it is I'm sure it's not positive to resale value hah.

a few people on the Facebook group have installed them. my opinion is that it is an improvement over the 2006-8 OEM look, and if well done (the FB guys report it takes some skill to get the features operational and connected to the factory wiring). the 2009+ OEM panel looks pretty and in tune with the rest of the car's style so i didn't do it on mine. the Android unit's functionality is definately an improvement over the Volvo(?) screen.
they are sold on Ebay for $1400 and integrate all the infotainment modules buried throughout the car and connected via MOST, so troubleshooting a "ring not locked" error which can be a real #$%@ is not necessary with the Android unit. Also the infotainment modules are difficult to find new if even available and they aren't cheap.
i think it is a viable solution for the aging cars, esp the 4.3L cars

It’s a shame the display is so big, I think it would be better if the display was about half the size, with some dials for climate below. Can’t say I wasn’t tempted though looking at them on AliExpress, was more appealing than the absurd price of the interface boxes.
I haven’t been able to figure out which Volvo interface is likely compatible, there will almost certainly be one for 1/5 the price.
I’m in the process of completing my own little CarPlay setup. A really nice slimline 6 inch CarPlay display combined with an iPod to BT adaptor is working really well for me.
Bought a new cable that will make the USB-C power cable running to the display even cleaner and near invisible (running into the small gap between the airvent and surround).
The large screen looks good and if it brings more options with it is a worthy upgrade. As long as it's possible to revert should "next guy" want to maintain the original look.
I would think the big challenge now is getting support from China these days...
I'm an analog guy and love the cockpit of the 2009+...
I still use my cell phone for navigation and have built in Alexa so I can steam most anything and control nav by voice as well an anything else Alexa offers...
i also have front and rear cameras that fed to screen display in my rear view mirror so I never use the flip up screen
looks like the HVAC are soft buttons on a dedicated screen, probably some other buttons as well, obviously nav, mp3, radio are dedicated control screens. here are some pics from Ebay listing. peeps who installed this indicated there was no instructions or support, only one person indicated he got about 90% of the functions of the OEM panel mapped to this one. others a bit less. personally i'm glad this option is available.
Again, to each is own. Aside from an absolute NO about replacing physical controls with a touchscreen (which appears to be the case), IMO, the OEM looks bespoke, special, unlike any other car. The screen and associated panel aren't distinctive or special at all -- looks ordinary, just like innumerable other cars.
