But damn, have you guys priced diesel lately? I'm seeing $3.70 +/- $.10 here in OC this weekend.

You can always convert it to Bio-diesel

I have this same engine in our Allroad Quattro at our house in Europe. Love it! The Q7 I'm really waiting for is the V12 TDI as I already have an ML320 CDI here in Texas and want something "extra" for the next SUV purchase.

Trust me, the V8 TDI is enough (while I haven't driven the V12 of course).

And it won't be until somewhere in 2009 for the V12 TDI.

The price of diesel is relative. If you get 30% better mileage, the price if diesel would have to be 30% higher than gasoline to have the cost per mile to run your car to be the same.

Bah, forget that mess. I want to see an S8 and an S6 with a V10 TDI somewhat based on the ALMS motor. Or even an S8 with the V10 from the VW touareg.

Imagine S65 torque and easily mid 30's mpg in that huge car. With a programmer I bet it could make 4 digit torque and 500+ HP. The turbo diesel truck guys can make 800ft/lbs in their sleep.

ya but there's no way that the S cars would be coming in before people got used to a regular A8 in TDI

A buddy of mine has a chipped V10 TDi Phaeton. That thing could seriously tow my entire neighborhood.

I agree... the only reason I think audi wouldn't do an A8 in TDI is because it would kill the S8 sales. Same way the turbo 335 is sure to put a hurt on the M3, a chipped TDI A8 would likely give a healthy beat down on an S8 unless they seriously boosted the HP.

Not necessary. The V8 TDI is more powerful than the V10 TDI...

ok here's the plan:

- More hp in the S8.
- Then bring in the V8 TDI

Or the V8 TDI with more hp. A chip brings it to 380hp and something near 800Nm of torque.
