Q7 V12 cancelled, is the R8 next?

I knew Audi was going to pull this!
The new Q7 got canned!
How long until we are told our new R8's will have the V10 TT after all?
If you want in on this, squares are $100 each

I think that a V12 Q7 would be cutting in one Porsche Cayenne Turbo market and vice versa.

I think that the R8 could be canned as it cuts in on the Carrera market.

Only time will tell. Too bad about the Q7, would have been awesome for Audi to have this available.

Really? I'd have to (optimistically) disagree. The Q7 is not the top of the line model like the R8 is. I don't think the R8 will cut into the Carrera market much since the 911s are much more widespread, have higher production volumes, and are priced very competitively. The R8 is amazing but based on numbers the Turbo beats it for similar money whereas the the cheaper Carreras are similar performance for less money. The R8 would be for people who want something other than a Carrera for what ever reason.

Interesting thought, but sorry I don't agree. Although i would be happy if a V10 is not produced until a much later date.

This is like limiting the competition from your sister company to keep sales temporarily higher, then what happens? Other competitors, bimmer, merc, etc. etc., will eat up your market share.

Although the V12 TDI has been cancelled, they are still going to produce a TDI Q7. I believe it is goning to be a V10 simlair to VW's Touareg.

As far as the R8 goes, it's still a guess as to which engine is next. I'm thinking its going to be a NA V10

all this HP war makes no sense as gas prices are heading into $4 range. i guess poeple just don't care about paying $100 at fill up. good to be rich i guess.

as for R8, the production volume will kill the model in a few years when Audi realizes it only benefit the dealers since they will profit from high markups. The low volume vs. profit for the manufacturer will pretty much discourage further investment into the model. this is the case for exotics cars like CGT, NSX and soon to follow R8. Profitability always come first eventually.

When you really think about it, there really isn't a market for a lot of things, but that doesn't stop us from wanting them.

Dude, you should read the paper at least once in a decade. How long was the NSX in production?
We have record breaking numbers in terms of the amount of cars available in the category of 175K and higher. Check your stats, people who buy expensive cars have no clue what gas costs, nor do they care. The new R8 will carry it self through 2011-2012. Last time I checked Pcars were all low production compared to the other German OEM's.

I have some old WSJs here you want me to send them to you?

I heard from an Audi dealer today (no one said these guys are reliable, mind you) that Audi is having problems with the test engines - specifically reliable transfer of the torque being produced. Seems weird since they have a working engine for the R8 race car but what do I know...

Perhaps this just means a longer development period.

It means its not happening!
The R8 V12TDI was pulled from the auto show circuit, when asked they said we aren't sure where it is LOL.

It makes sense they will once again go back to the V10 platform as production is already up and running. I imagine this will be the only way for us yanks to experience the RS6 and for those who want a 2 door its the ticket.

So how many squares are we up to?
