I gave up my spot for the M3 to get the S5...

The M3 was just not inspiring to look at (inside and outside)...power & speed wasn't as important to me for a daily driver, and besides, it's not like the S5 is "slow".

I have the S5 now, and have an M3 in production now....now, I am no Jeremy Clarkson, but I will let you know in 45 days or so which one I think is the best.

That is....if I can find my S5 key.

Arling brings up a good point about the financing...Audis are notorious for having horrible leases while BMWs tend to lease alright. My only concern is the price premium one is likely to find on the first batch of M3s. I haven't been to the bimmer dealer yet, but based on my experience we're likely to find $5K - $10K over on the M3 for awhile, don't you think?

Depends on the dealer and your relationship I suppose. I was able to secure my M3 at MSRP.

Well, now if you factor leasing vs buying, that pretty much changes the playing field. When the leasing numbers were thrown at me, I just went with buying instead of leasing. Leasecompare.com quoted me $861.00 / $0 down / 48mth can't remember the money factor, but residual was $27,000. Not at all fabulous...

Hope that helps. The M3 is fugly, needs maybe some Amuse/Ericsson aerodynamics to get it to a decent spot...but then you have to stare at the bland interior when you drive, eww.

i just ordered mine yesterday for MSRP. although it'll be at MSRP but the rates are out & it's not a sweet lease being a new new car on the street. a 24M lease will be in the $1,300s & 36M in the $1,200s. high for what it is. btw, my msrp will be higher than 70k. the lease is not great but it won't be hard to find a person to take over the lease. easier than Audi for sure. i love the S5 though but just because i plan not keeping it for long (going for 09 X6 later the year) picking the M3 is a better choice for me.
