Are the B7 Audi S4 2005.5 good???

Hey guys

I found a 2005.5 audi s4 B7 body style for a great deal with only 36000 miles on it... I was just wondering if these are problematic at all or if they are still solid like the other b7s? Thanks guys!!!

B7 is mechanically identical to the B6. The cars are pretty solid. I had one coilpack issue on mine at 14,000 miles. Definitely a lot of car for the price.

S4, no major issues that I have seen other than an occasional bad coil pack...

Below is my answer if it were an 05.5 A4....

Occasionally we see issues with the FSI fuel pump however that is easily fixed by replacing with the APR Fuel Pump... At the end of the day, if you are going to build a 2.0 the fuel pump would most likely be addressed anyway and definitely replaced as part of any decent turbo upgrade. I have done several GT2871 APR kits on 2.0 GTI's and they absolutely rip for what they are. As far as the usual performance mods go, everything has been out there for awhile to touch on all aspects of the B7.

If the car is a good price, get it, you can start off small with minor mods which have a big impact and build off from there.

In response to the last post, I think he is talking about getting an s4, in which case the fuel pump you are referring to is not a problem. The only thing I think is different between the 05.5 s4 and the newer b7 s4's is the 05.5 model did not have the 60:40 rear biased torque split. Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I believe I read that somewhere.

Good advice, but the b7 S4 has a 4.2 V8 in it.

Yeah, I brain farted on 05.5, usually comes up more often on A4 spec since there was a major change 1.8 to 2.0.... Anyway.... I just replaced coilpacks on 1, they have come way down, $32 a coil now other than that, I havent had major issues come through my lift etc...

Only thing I ever did to my B7 S4 was add pss9's, HRE's, and exhaust. Put almost 40k trouble free miles on it!

Great car and value for the over all money IMO

I purchased a new 05.5 B7 S4. 40k miles now and not one single problem. Love the car.

I have an 05.5 B7 S4 Avant w/ 50k miles. Car is at the dealer now getting Valve Cover Gaskets and front control arms. A couple of other small items have been taken care of also.

Long term does scare me a bit, but we will see.
