The Finest Audi Exhaust in the world ! - Why ?

Quicksilver were recently asked by a technically knowledgeable enthusiast to provide the lightest possible exhaust system for his new Audi TTS.

Audi say this is the most powerful TT they’ve ever made, its direct-injection 2.0-litre TFSI engine delivers 272 HP and 350Nm of torque - capable of 0 to 62mph in 5.2 seconds

However, with an unladen weight of around 1400 kilos the TTS is no lightweight and with a power to weight ratio of 171 bhp / tonne it’s performance (whilst fine) is closer to a Golf GTi than a Porsche 911.

With a power increase of 78 bhp and the loss of 100 kg the TTS can be upgraded right into Porsche 911 territory – as shown below.

On modern cars the elimination of 100 kg is achievable – without loss of comfort or safety. Modern seats typically weigh around 30 kg each & Recaro SPAs are 4 kg each, so 50 kg off there.
Forged aluminium or magnesium wheels, lighter brake & suspension components and a lightweight exhaust all make that 100 kg target easy to hit – and if you want to start a pile at the back of your garage by removing ‘unnecesary’ luxuries a second 100 kg may be within reach.

To detail drawings provided, QuickSilver produced a lightweight exhaust manufactured from .9mm Titanium exhaust that weighs in at exactly 5 kg - saving 23 kg from the Audi’s steel silencer assembly.

This is the owner’s ‘daily driver’, his Audi R8 and Lamborghini Gallardo already have QuickSilver Titanium silencers.

Weight reduction together with engine improvement can combine to provide intelligent results.

Looks like it will be a pretty awesome car. I have always liked the TT's although their performance left something to be desired.
