Check out the APR software, that's available too if you need to be able to switch back and forth to stock and other octane maps.

 

Well...with the EVOMSit software there is no need to "switch" the software manually. The software adjusts to your fuel's octane level automatically.

The danger of manually switching programs is that it operates with the assumption that you have a full tank of that octane fuel. So if you have half a tank of 93 and you fill up with race fuel...the EVOMSit software will automatically adjust to the octane level using engine knock sensors and other existing hardware in the engine and ECU. With a manually switched program, you also run the risk of forgetting to change the program when you change fuel. With the EVOMSit, we take that worry away.

 

APR's software still retains the ECU's factory ability to detect octane and fuel quality and EVOM's doesn't switch back to stock for when you go into service.

 

Thanks for pointing that out Matt. Why, then, would the end user ever need to switch programs if the ECU detects it? Although we could debate the authenticity of the "stock" file all day, I think the graceful thing to do would be start another thread about the merits of APR's software. This thread clearly says EVOMSit in the title. Thank you.

 

Any additional info you can provide on the B8 A4 2.0T ECU upgrade, including dynos, would be greatly appreciated. I looked on the EVOMSit site and didn't see anything listed for my car.

The part I find strange is that on Rennsport's site, they give the same description, including gains, for the B7 and B8 2.0T. Even though both are 2 liter turbo charged engines, they definitely don't use the same software. Either someone has (inaccurately) assumed the B7 software will work on the B8, or it's just a typo. I'm looking for more info before deciding on anything at this point.
