S4 Avant: Ski Rack vs. Cargo Box?

Hey 6Speeders,
Have a B7 S4 Avant which I'm setting up for bike/snowboard transport. Already sourced out the cross-member bars from an Audi dealer and a bike rack (loaner) from a buddy who haunts these forums

Curious what ya'll recommend for snowboards? Ski rack OR enclosed box? What are the pros/cons of each? If I go with a box, I love the Thule Atlantis but prefer the pricing more of a Thule Ascent. Some considerations include aesthetics, usability, durability, MPG and road noise (e.g., prefer a box that's going to generate less road noise on the highway). Also, can a box big enough for 2 snowboards share the same roof with a single bike rack?

Thanks for all your thoughts!

jacx920 is infamous around these parts
If you have the money, get the enclosed box, will save your board from debris, make less road noise, an look cleaner IMO.
And for the bike rack... just throw the bike in the back, there should be more than enough room.... put the wheel on the roof of something...

Jack, appreciate the input. Do like the box idea for looks, mileage, less road noise, security and increased flexibility.

Thinking about these boxes:
Inno LowDown Cruiser (gorgeous, but concerned about hardware quality)
Thule Ascent 1100 or 1700
Yakima RocketBox 11

Open to 6Speeder recos...
