Oil filter washer

I am changing the oil in the 4.2 B7 with audi oil filter 079-198-405-a. I get the oil filter and o ring but it also came with a small metal washer. I really don't see where this washer should go. anyone know?

Sorry, you're probably finished by now, but this is usually a new crush washer for the drain plug. However, when I had my B6 S4, if I remember correctly, this included washer did not fit the drain plug, and it certainly is not for the filter itself. I always just pitched it.

This is a small aluminum crush washer that came in the bag with the filter o ring. not the drain plug crush washer.

I just found out that it is not used with the b7 4.2. The same filter is used on many platforms so they include it with the filter but not used in this case.
