Audi A1: iPhone compatibility?
Audi A1: iPhone compatibility?
I am considering buying Audi A1, but want to clarify all my doubts before final purchase. Does anyone know if it is possible to play my iPhone music through the stereo? I have seen a couple of A1 interior photos and videos, but not sure if there is a plug for some sort of adapter? I read somewhere that A1 has iPhone compatibility, but don't know how it works. Is there anyone with Audi A1 here?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
Hi!
Yep, its completely compatible. Not only does it stream your music through Bluetooth, it also allows you to access your phone numbers, addresses (including interaction with navigation) and recent calls (lost and called). And make crisp clear calls, obviously
To play music from the phone you need to choose it on the iphone and only then you can control it through the car menu (only stop, forward, etc).
The lighter below the dashbord can be removed and it turns into 12v outlet, where you can charge the iphone (you'll need it, with so much bluetooth streaming going on
)
If you don't want to stream, you have two options: Either use the audio interface in the glove compartment to connect the iphone (or any ipod) through a separately sold Audi cable (which allows you to use the car menus to choose tracks, view album art, etc) or buy the phone pre-instalation, which mounts the phone on a special support inside the armrest. This last option includes extended signal, via a outside antenna.
I have the MMI Plus and it works perfectly. Not sure if with the Media/Connectivity pack it works but ask in the dealership. It supposedly works just the same with any pack that includes the Bluetooth interface. Ask precise questions, though, and be a pain: its a new car, some of these systems are new, and they probably need to check to be sure.
Couple it with the Bose Sound System and its a sweet thing
I've recently got a Audi A1 1.6 TDI Sport and couldn't be happier!
Happy driving!
