Thumbs up Audi RS4 Engine

-This engine is Developing a maximum output of 420 bhp.

-This outstanding engine exceeds the magical barrier of 100 bhp per litre truly outstanding in a small production saloon.

-Maximum torque of 430 Nm comes at 5500 rpm & all in this very compact engine!

Do we still need Turbos for that engine

I do think this motor will be amazing and this car is gonna be lightning quick, but I also agree with Seankf1105 - the tunability of the new motor will be near zilch. With such high compression and high-revving there wont be much room. I miss the days of Audi where a chip ugrade was 30-50 hp and 50+ torque.

its not even the power that is the issue, it the weight and balance. putting a V8 into what is supposed to be a small sized sedan/wagon is kind of an oxymoron. it seems like the V8 would really make the car kind of unbalanced and sluggish in corners. i have even heard lots of test reviews mentioning that the S4 was. i have never driven the new S4 so correct me if im wrong.

anyways, maybe the RS4 will be different with some decent weight reduction in the front? are they going to do this?

A DSG, Direct-Shift-Gearbox, version is being developed ATM.

It's the same twin-clutch automated sequential gearbox which is already available in cars like the new Mk V Golf GTI, as well as other VWs and Audis. As you probably know, Porsche's also adapting the technology. Their term for it is PDK IIRC.

unfortunately about the US RS4

there are a couple of catches, we do not get those seats or the sick steering wheel you have seen witht he aluminum straight bottom, I think the start button may be out as well. there are issues with US safety standards that don't allow those features (so they say). basically the interior will be the same as the B7 S4. that sucks!

The RS4 is a freaking fast car. Just a matter of time before someone buys one, does some internal work, puts twin turbos in it, and eats everything on the road. Sweeeeeet.
