I saw a new R8 (2012?) I'm not sure. The door sill had a back lit R8 logo which looked awesome. I have a 2011 5.2 manual which doesn't have this, nor was I aware of the option. Does anyone know if this became an option, or standard on 2012's, and also whether it can be retrofitted? My local dealer tech says it's fiber optic, but can't find it on any parts list. Would love to add this.

 

I dont remember that being an option on mine when ordered either...(a 4.2 but still). I just have the aluminum plate.

 

I have a 2009 R8 and had my door sills retro-fitted with the lighted panels by OEM Plus. Looks great at night. Check their website, I think you can get a kit from them.

 

Rsmr8, thanks for the info. I checked the site and there was the lit sill in addition to some grill options as well. Best site I've seen thus far for the R8 aftermarket.
