2014 R8 To Keep NA-V8 And V10 Engines
2014 R8 To Keep NA-V8 And V10 Engines

which means: no Turbo engines for the 2nd generation!
Output is expected to reach 580 horsepower in the V10 model and up to 620 horsepower in a second-generation R8 GT model.
The V8 model should deliver around 470 horsepower. While the increase in output may not seem all that substantial,
Audi’s second-generation R8 will be significantly lighter than the current car.
Its platform will be constructed from a hybrid-mix of aluminum and carbon fiber, even some body panels will be made of carbon.
it`s also expected to recieve an advanced CF/aluminium monocoque that weighs just 198 kg (437 lbs).
a facelifted version of the current R8 complete with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission is due to be released later this year.

They are still using that old V8 and not the turbo? Really? The sales will tell them that is a bad move especially with the 991 GT3, new NSX, GTR and etc at the $120k price point. The V10 620hp seems to be the way to go but they need to lighten the engine or something to make it handle up to par with their V8.
The GTR is increasing cost like crazy and i'm predicting $120k by 2014. So i'm throwing that into the mix.

“It is important to retain the engine qualities which have made the current model so successful,” an Audi insider said. “We want to keep the throttle response, the soaring nature of the delivery and the inherent sound. It is what sets our car apart from the competition, many of which are now adopting forced induction.”
