Audi voiding the warranty on tuned cars
Audi voiding the warranty on tuned cars
Talked to my tuner (in Toronto Canada ) about getting the new Giac tune. The tune results seemed great (93 octane, 50 whp (75 at crank?) 55 wtq.
BUT, they warned that Audi is now voiding the warranty of all tuned cars. Apparently they are checking files sizes of all cars that are serviced. If the code is the wrong size , they check for a flash. Even if you are not in for a warranty claim.
That means you would have to have your original code red reflashed everytime you go to the dealer. Then go back to the tuner and flashing again.
Anyone else hearing this?what are the facts? Apparently they have been rolling this hard line out across the States for the past few months.

logical???
It's not logical to void the entire warranty if you alter engine parameters. If your satnav goes down, it's not covered? If you have an issue with the interior? If you have a problem with THEIR poorly manufactured part that is not in anyway affected by the new code?
Apparently they are voiding warranties, not denying power train claims.
I might be wrong, but that's how it was relayed to me. Seems extreme and frankly outside the laws of my province.

This is why you buy Stasis products and do not worry about it. Of course they will abolish your warranty. Any modification to the ECU should void engine, power train, etc. As for Nav?...they will find a way it was the problem.
Regarding Stasis, Audi covers all modification done. I have a ECU chip and Exhaust +65HP! And it is all covered under warranty. I just took my car in for a leaking headlight washer pump...free of charge. They even commented saying how nice my exhaust sounds!
AKA Buy Stasis!

I think the fact that some dealerships offer Stasis products is confusing.

This is a common misperception. Audi DOES NOT warranty Stasis products. The warranty is from Stasis. They claim to match the factory warranty period, but as it states on the Stasis web site, you must go to the Stasis dealer for warranty issues, not the Audi dealer.

So all in all...a Stasis dealer IS an Audi dealer. Go on the Stasis website and look for local dealers. I have had no warranty problems when taking my car in.
Yes dealers offer Stasis products and if they install the product then it is covered under the warranty. I do not understand why people believe that the dealer (Audi Stasis dealer) will not cover any issues brought up by the stasis product or any other problem. They will. I have experienced it first hand. Please anyone interested in Stasis products, go to your dealer "that supports Stasis products" and ask them about their warranty and products.
IT IS covered.
Hopefully the TTRS software comes out soon!!! Call Stasis!!! They always call me back within a couple hours and are very friendly/informative
.
But you will have to pay $1K/hp extra. Can buy a lot of non-warranty work for $40K...
I actually considered selling the Aston and buying a Gallardo. Not for the track though. How often do you drive yours? Is it DD able?
So much mis-information in this thread.
Audi is now requiring all their dealers to scan all the cars that come in for service. They are checking for modified ECU's. If the system finds the ECU has been modified, the car is given a "TD1" designation in the Audi computer system. Audi will not reimburse the dealer for warranty work/service on cars with the TD1 flag.
This includes cars with Stasis mods also. Even if you bought them the stasis products through the audi dealer.

Ecu = td1
Is it legal for them to not cover service or warranty on these cars, if the tune does not affect the procedure.
Examples: regularly scheduled oil changes. Satnav and stereo issues. Paint and body work. Trim. Tire warranties. Shifter linkages, lights. Air conditioning system. Etc etc etc.
I can't see how that is allowed.

Legal or not that's what they are doing.
Who's going to stop them? It will require somebody to pony up with a lawyer and be willing to spend their time and money, which may not be worth it.
