I haven't owned let alone driven either one in the snow, but I know they are both capable. The GT-R has a "snow" button for dedicated snow driving. The R8, well....Quattro says it all. I would be worried about ground clearance with the R8.

Both would be fun year round drivers! G/L!

I suggest a 7 year old Kia with snows on it for the really bad days. I own both cars; and if I absolutely had no choice but to drive one of these cars in bad weather, I would drive my 14 v10+. The front end is a bit more tapered than the GTR thus having a bit more clearance. No advantage with traction between the two cars IMO.
