Audi S6 4.0T Stage 3: RS7 Turbocharger Upgrade

The Redline Speed Worx (RSW) Service Team has Partnered with APR make the dream a reality of having the ability to upgrade all C7 S6 / S7 models with Audi's OEM RS7 Turbochargers.

APR’s RS7 Turbo ECU Upgrade is designed for use with Audi’s high output RS7 4.0T turbochargers, which are a direct bolt on to the factory S6/7 4.0T Engine. This upgrade offers 634 HP and 671 FT-LBS of torque on 93 octane fuel and 707 HP and 714 FT-LBS of torque with race fuel! The substantial increase in power and torque comes with lightning fast response and smooth daily driving that transforms the vehicle into a new class of enjoyment!

The Ultimate Sleeper Build begins in 3-2-1 . . .

Our Performance Team has put together a complete upgrade "kit" which includes all required hardware to make the swap possible on the S6/7 chassis.

The Audi S6 4.0T Stage 3 Upgrade process has begun. Time to get the factory turbochargers stripped off the engine so the heart transplant can commence.

Due to the fact that we are upgrading with ALL OEM components, the installation process is very straight forward. APR’s Calibration Experts recalibrated the factory Bosch MED 17 engine management system to work seamlessly with the upgraded turbochargers, and offer a range of flexibility depending on vehicle modifications.

The OEM Audi RS7 Turbochargers are INSTALLED on the S6.

For this build we chose to upgrade the vehicle's exhaust system with a full turboback solution from Milltek. The system features 2.76" High Flow Downpipes and a Resonated Valvetronic Catback with black ceramic exhaust tips.

Your Audi S6 4.0L BiTurbo TFSI engine does not operate using the standard air-to-air intercooler of yesterday. Like many modern turbocharged European vehicles, it uses coolant to lower the charged intake air temperatures through an air-to-water heat exchanger. While this method works well, it can quickly become heat-soaked, robbing horsepower - a big problem for you as an enthusiast.

Your solution is the Alpha Turbo Cooler System which features a large, high efficiency heat exchanger, an additional reservoir that holds over a gallon of coolant and a high flow pump which runs in union with the factory pump.

Whether you live in a warm region of the world, enjoy long spirited drives in the mountains or run long sessions at your local track, the S6/S7 Turbo Cooler will keep your intake temps low, maintaining your 4.0L V-8 twin-turbocharged engine’s maximum output.

To provide your S6/S7 with the best turbo cooling system on the market, ALPHA Performance thoroughly tested multiple variations of the Alpha Turbo Cooler System. They tested divorced and non-divorced systems and found that divorcing the system provided no real gains, only added complexity. After discovering that the stock pump flow rate diminishes drastically after 8psi, they added an additional brushless pump to support the higher pressure needed to maintain flow. Data log after data log was recorded and the results were analyzed until their engineers were completely satisfied.

With the complete "Stage 3" RS7 Turbocharger Conversion complete our Team was happy to have the opportunity to take on such a project for the owner.

Awesome work. Always great to see the aftermarket keeping pace with the ridiculously complicated powertrains in modern cars. The fact that they can still be modded for power and efficiency gives me hope for the future.

Although I'm sure nothing in this post was remotely cheap haha.

Thank you for the kind words!!!

The powertrains in these new cars are truly wild, although some have worried that the constant progress has left less and less for the aftermarket to improve we have found the opposite.

You are correct that most of the things needed to do this aren't cheap, but the true beauty of the package is that the car drives like a stock car in terms of drivability and reliability, but with CONSIDERABLY more power. The fact that the kit uses OEM turbochargers means that there really no downsides. No fitment issues, no concerns with longevity, no extra parts or things that don't fit. Also, if you gave the car to your grandma to take out to the supermarket she wouldn't notice anything was off, and if you put some high octane fuel in it and take it to the 1/4 strip it will probably run in the low 11's/high 10's with slim to no effort!
