As for the rear installation, I have a b7 avant, and apparently the rear subframe must be taken off to install; not sure exactly.

The rear does not need to be taken fully off I believe. I was not around when he installed the rear but I was there basically the whole time talking to the tech. I remember talking to him about how the subframe bolts needed to be loosened though.

The whole install time was about 1 hr per corner. They would probably charge around an hour's labor for tweaking as thats how long it takes.

Nice. Did you use an extra (for total of 2) plastic perch spacer in the rear to lift the rear ride height up just a bit?

No, didn't have to. I also have the aluminum 1" spacers which were not used.

I have since tweaked the ride height so now it is set at 25.00" in the front (top of the fender to ground) and 24.75" in the rear. Admittedly, it is slammed, but I have not had any trouble with it yet and will be adding an aluminum skid plate for added protection.

I may have to raise it in the spring because my 19" BBS summer wheels have a pretty aggressive offset. I doubt I will use the spacers though because there is still some adjustment left.

The rear is definitely a PITA. Especially if you don't have the right tools. I spent an afternoon "installing" the coilovers on our S4 before I gave up and towed it to the shop. I bet the A4 is the same.

Totally.

Unfortunately I did not get to see the tech put in the rear section. I was basically hanging around him the whole time talking with and watching him but I had to leave for a conference call. I was there when he adjusted the rear for ride height and even that is a PITA.
