Must have been burning for quite a while.

 

I can see the tires are R- related, but that role cage looks pretty large to me.If you envision a roof line covering the cage, I think it looks a little disproportionate compared to length of wheelbase.

Looking at a following pic further down, it almost looks like a cobra burning. Am I just imagining things?

I'm thinking you need to ask yourself why this car is refered to as a "prototype".

 

I'm thinking the body must have been made of cardboard soaked in napalm . . .

 

RS8 = V10 version.

 

Sorry guys, I'm a little slow post-easter.. Was thinking R8, not RS8. It all makes sense now..

you are right!!!!! is not made of steel!!!!!

 

yea its an RS8 V10 prototype that burned not an R8 V8 production model. Also the entire car body is made from aluminum (and some carbon fiber) which explains why it all burned/melted away. It was probably burning for a while before fire respose could get to it know considering how long the track is and how few entry/exits there are for emergency vehicles to respond.

apparently it was a twin turbo v10 thats meant to be going in the RS6 audi.

 

Its a prototype because of the V10 model not the V8 that has completed testing awhile ago and not is in final production trim.
