Audi RS5

RS4 V8 + 2 Turbos, sounds good to me.

Audi is busy prepping three new versions of its new A5 coupe – headlined by this blistering 450bhp RS5 that arrives early next year to take on its new BMW M3 and Mercedes C63 rivals. Like all R models, the topdog A5 has been fully developed by Quattro, Audi’s in-house go-fast engineering team.

As our impressions show, the RS5 will get the full Quattro treatment. The glorious high-revving 4.2-litre V8 that powers the RS4 gets plumbed into the RS5’s nose, complete with two small and highly responsive turbochargers that will take peak power up to the 450bhp. That’s not a great deal more than the S5’s 354bhp, but the RS5 searing pace will come from its phenomenal blower-enhanced torque – expect at least 500lb ft of twist action to plateau across the rev range.
You betcha. With its quattro all-paw grip, the RS5 should scrabble to 60mph in four and a half seconds and hit an easy 155mph before the electronics call it a day. Like the S5, the hot RS5 will exploit the new A5 chassis layout, which has shifted the front axle 120mm further forward for a better 55:45 front-rear balance. But don't think that the RS5 will be a mere point-and-shoot speed weapon – Quattro waved it magic wand over the RS4, and the RS5 is expected to be just as pin-sharp to drive.

To this end, the RS5’s rear-biased quattro system will give the big coupe a more neutral handling balance. To keep the RS4 on the straight and narrow and keep a tight rein on body control, it will be fitted with carbon ceramic brakes lifted from the R8, 19inch alloys, as well as modified magnetic ride dampers borrowed from the TT. All this technology and pace will come at a price – expect the RS5 to wade in with a £53,000 price tag, in line with BMW’s £50,625 M3.

The car looks sharp. I just dont get Audi, V8FSI NA=420 in the RS4, they add 2 snails and gain only 30HP, WTF?
The engine should be pumpin out at least 500+hp with the TT setup.
I love Audi's but man the are always underpowering their cars, Lead..not follow use to be their motto. So much for that I guess.

I don't buy it. Earlier this month, Audi claimed to never have two RS cars on the market at the same time. The launch of the 5 would conflict with the RS6.

So....

Guys this is purely internet hype. I have a close friend who is in R&D at Quattro GMBH and this car does not exist.

There has been talk about buildig a RS5 yes this would be the natural evolution of the model but Audi will not build a car to compete against its own higher model cars.

Yes, is it possible they will build this car.. YES .. Is it going to happen anytime soon.. Doubtful if anything it may be a 09 model from what I have been told.

Just my 02 cents.

I sure do hope they build it though.. Audi would finally have a car to compete against the up and coming v8 m3.

Start sending those letters to Audi to build the car.!!!!

I'm wondering why they would go to a TT 500+ hp on the RS5, when it's 4 door counterpart = RS4. Wouldn't it just be a much more natural path to have the currnt 420 hp engine, and be priced around the RS4/upcoming M3. With a TT engine people are right it would cannabalize the RS6, not to mention be far more expensive than the M3. The A5 = A4, the S5 = S4, so the RS5 should = RS4.

Yeah, a boosted V8 for the RS5 is BS in my opinion. The RS5 will be a superior sports car to the RS4 due to weight distribution and hopefully weight. So it should already be faster then the RS4.

Audi is placing the A5/S5 line up in "between" the A4/A6 lineup, whatever that means. Thats Audi's philosophy.
My opinion would be to put a TTV10 in that bad boy and knock alot of competition into the harbor.

although the a5 seems like a big brother to the a4...not that the interior is more A6ish
