He's probably getting 63K and saving the other 5K comes in with trading and not paying taxes on the 63K thus it's 5K.

If anyone is interested I have significantly reduced the sale price of the car. There is one catch however: it will be done via a "pass-through" at the local dealership, meaning you will get the car for the price agreed to but I will pass it through the local dealership for a small charge I will pay in order for the car to be shown as a "trade" (for tax credit towards next car...which is a lot at 9%. And yes it is legal to do this). This way both parties get the best deal as opposed to one end getting a low-ball on the trade and the other end paying top dollar at the dealership...
