Curious... I thought that IL residents had to pay sales tax on private party car purchases. Am I wrong?

In IL private party transactions are limited to $1,500 max tax. Dealer deals are not. For example, if you lived in Chicago, you would pay 9.25% which is roughly a $2,200 savings if you purchased from a private party than from a dealer on a $40k car.

I just sold mine...mint m3 vert... I took a bath man...market is soft...it sucks but the market is really soft for M3s
