The seats slide up and there is enough room to reach the rear access area, but honestly I don't use the rear area at all.

When I purchased the car, the owner told me the check engine light came on and he was running it by the dealer. After 3 weeks of troubleshooting, they concluded there was a defective camshaft. Since the car had the extended warranty, they chose to replace the engine rather than tear it apart. It worked out good for me but I had to wait about 4 weeks while I already had paid for the car. The job was done at Porsche of Westwood outside of Boston, MA.

No performance mods other than the suspension and the intake. I still have the stock air box I believe.

The handling characteristics are great. There is a world of grip in long swooping turns.

Let me snap a pic later this evening of that dent, it's pretty small, which is why I haven't taken care of it.

How long have you had the car?

Did you do all of the mods or buy it as it currently is? I'm from CT and my business is in MA, about 1 1/4 hrs from Boston.

This is the type of car I've been looking for and most of the mods on yours are the same that I would do. I've been looking at a few 996's bone stock that I could mod but this would be easier. Great color and tastefully modded.

One thing holding me back is the all wheel drive. I imagine it's like driving my SUV. You get pulled thru the corners. I've had/driven rear wheel cars and been on the track in an open seater. I'm not going to track the car but like the feel of the back end controlled sliding. It seems to me that you loose this with the C4.

Thanks,

Most of my work has been done at iMA Motorsports. I've done a few things, an oil change or two and the drop links.

The AWD is 5%-40% power to the front wheels, so it still has the rear wheel bias.

The car has a nice clean look, with tasteful mods in my opinion. I like going down backraods so the everything handling is important to me. Parts can get expensive, I'm hoping to find someone looking for my set-up or something similar. I feel that there is a lot of value in the car.

Pics of the quarter panel dent:

I couldn't get the minor surface scratches to show up in pic, they aren't noticeable, but I want to provide all the information up front.

Question Dent?

Is it the white area next to the tail light? Is it actually concave or just surface damage?

Question about the AWD; So this is a variable progressive system? You mention it is 5-40%, as more grip is required in the front, power is supplied to accomodate this need. Correct? Do you get any wheel spin at launch?Does this car have traction control? If so, can it be turned off? Sorry for all of the questions but I'm not familiar with Porsches drive train.

How long have you owned the car? Why was the alternator and AC pump replaced at time of engine swap?

You mention that the engine was changed by a Porsche dealer in MA under an extended warranty, is the new engine under any warranty and/or is there any time left on the extended one?

Thanks,

Yes, it's the white area, it looks like something hit it. I was at Subway and there tends to be a lot of construction workers there. My theory is that they were taking something out of a truck and accidentally hit my car with it. Possibly a large/heavy tool or something. I'm not sure, I came outside and there you have it. It could probably be filled and repainted fairly cheaply.

The AWD system transfers more power to the front wheels as they slip. It's a mechanical system to save on weight. I think it only adds something like 90lbs over the C2. However my car with the GT3 seats and rear seats removed is probably pretty close in weight to the C2. The car has PASM (Porsche Active Stability Management) and yes, it can be turned off.

I've owned the car for over a year. The new engine came in a sub frame with the new pumps/alternator, etc. They basically just unhooked all the lines from the old, dropped it down and inserted the new assembly. I guess it's more cost effective for them to do that. The new engine does have a warranty I believe for another 9-12 months. I'll have to find the paperwork, it was a 2 year warranty from the date it was replaced. Also, they clutch and a few other items have a 12 month warranty by iMA who has done the work. I replaced a wheel bearing, control arm (ball joint), and the strut mounts recently.

No problem, feel free to ask away.

Not as much interest as I expected, might be a function of the economy, cash for clunkers, haha I don't know.

I had a PCA member come look at it the other day. He had a Boxster for track use and wanted something with a little more power for the straights. I think this would be a great car for someone looking for a nicely done up 911. It has a lot of new major parts, so cost of ownership should be minimized. I'm just hoping to find someone looking for this set-up or something comparable. I feel that there is a ton of value in the car, and the price is fair. I'm consistently getting compliments from other Porsche owners. I hate the idea of having it gone but I really need to free up some cash to buy a place. I'll be a first time home buyer, so I'm looking to take advantage of the current incentives.

I should also mention that there is about a year left on the warranty for the engine, and a year warranty on the clutch, and a few other various parts carry a year warranty.

Also included is an outdoor car cover.

Congrats on the sale! I'd have been all over that car had it been on this coast. It seemed like a great setup with a lot of life left in it....
