Wtb 997 gt3 06 rs

My father in law is actively looking for a 997 GT3 or RS

Please let me know if you have a lead on a car.

What are:
  1. reasonable
  2. normal
  3. great
deals?

He won't drive much, but will drive it. So something like 20-30K miles will be great.

Thanks

porsche.tay is infamous around these parts
HI Ari,

I can offer some inputs because i recently bought a white 08 GT3 Rs.
First, i don't think there are any 06 GT3s in the USA unless you are talking about the production date. In anycase, they are still regarded as 07s even if produced in 06. And there are very few GT3s with mileage above 20k.

These are what i think are reasonable market prices:

07 GT3 <10k miles 82-95k
07 GT3 >10k miles 75-85k
Price variations depend on the options you want and the actual mileage. Ceramic brakes and full interior leather(especially with stitching) tend to command slightly higher prices. There are some great deals where the vehicle comes with tons of aftermarket upgrades such as exhausts, rollcages, bucketseats and flywheel. However, GT3s with these upgrades tend to also have been tracked, which to me, is not an issue if the cars were well maintained with regular oil change....they are meant to be driven hard anyway

07 GT3RS (mostly under 10k miles) 105-125k
Again, prices varies based on the options required. The MSRP for GT3rs vary from mid 130k to mid 150k. The highest MSRP i've seen was over 160k. For some reason, Silver GT3RSs seem to be cheaper. Other than black and silver, all the other colors were 4k factory options. For me, the interior stitching is a must because most other things can be done aftermarket but to do all the interior stitching to factory spec is quite difficult and expensive.

Depending on your budget, I would recommend buying the RS if price difference is not more than 20k especially if you intend to to change the Flywheel in the regular GT3. Check out http://www.gt3rsregistry.com/, its a great resource for the GT3rs and you can find all the GT3rs that are currently for sale. I don't know how this guy does it but the info in there is pretty accurate and updated with actual pictures, much better than carfax

The info above are based on my own experience and estimation, and may not be entirely acuurate. You should do more research and find out exactly the options that you want before setting a price target.
At current prices, 997 GT3s are good buys, 996GT3s with low mileages are still commanding prices in the mid 60k.

Good luck with finding your GT3!

Mark
