Is the car still covered under factory warranty? If so, will the dealer replace the wood around the shifter?

No, it's not, so they won't. But the piece probably isn't that expensive. It's odd that it did that though...

Yes I do. Just put 9.2 qts of fresh Mobil 1 in it... as in... my hands are getting my Mac dirty!

I have a B6 S4 Avant 6MT, so yes, I've driven one for comparison. They are about the same quickness from 50-140. The A6 gets substantially better gas mileage. AND, the A6 is sold. Sorry guys.
